IB English and GP Tutor for Essays, Commentary and Confident Writing

Strong writing is not about using bigger words; it is about making better choices. I'm Rachel, an ACS International alumna and Yale-NUS graduate tutor specialising in IB English and General Paper. I help students write clearer essays, analyse texts more precisely and develop arguments that answer the actual question. Lessons involve close reading, paragraph rewriting and timed planning practice. My sessions are often built around the student's own work: • We identify what the question is really asking. • We decide which evidence is worth using. • We rewrite weak topic sentences and analysis together. • We practise making conclusions more specific instead of simply repeating the introduction. I teach online and around Tanglin, River Valley and Orchard. I am a good fit for students who want detailed writing feedback rather than generic comments.
