JC Economics Tutor | Essay Frameworks, Case Study Skills and Evaluation Practice
Scoring well in Economics isn't about memorising model essays—it's about knowing how to build an argument, evaluate different perspectives and communicate your ideas clearly under examination pressure. I'm Janelle, a Year 3 Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) undergraduate at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a graduate of Raffles Institution, where I achieved 90 RP, including an A in H2 Economics. As a recipient of the NUS Faculty Scholarship, I understand what it takes to perform consistently in a demanding academic environment, and I enjoy helping JC students develop the same confidence and analytical skills. My lessons are especially suited to students who know the syllabus but struggle to convert their knowledge into high-scoring essays and case study responses. Rather than giving students paragraphs to memorise, I teach them how to think like an examiner, structure persuasive arguments and evaluate effectively using relevant economic concepts and real-world examples.

Lessons are personalised according to each student's current ability. Students who are still developing their understanding begin with core Microeconomics and Macroeconomics concepts, while stronger students focus on improving evaluation, essay depth, application and time management under examination conditions. How I Teach Every lesson is designed to make Economics more intuitive and easier to apply in exams. Students work with concise resources that complement—not replace—their school notes, ensuring revision remains efficient despite busy JC schedules. Lessons regularly incorporate: ● Essay skeletons and planning frameworks ● Case study walkthroughs and marking reviews ● Evaluation drills and argument-building techniques ● Command word analysis ● Concept maps linking key economic ideas ● Singapore and current global economic examples 📍 Lessons available online or at students' homes around Toa Payoh, Bishan and Novena.
