One of the reasons I enjoy teaching Science is that every topic tells a story. Once students understand how the different ideas connect, the subject becomes much easier to remember and far more enjoyable to learn. I'm James, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS) after graduating from Hwa Chong Institution. During my time in Junior College, I developed a strong interest in Biology and Chemistry, not because they were easy, but because I enjoyed understanding why things happened instead of simply memorising facts. As a tutor, I aim to create lessons where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas without worrying about making mistakes. I tutor Secondary and Junior College students in Biology, Chemistry and Science, helping learners develop stronger conceptual understanding and examination confidence. Lessons are structured around each student's current school topics and individual goals. Rather than rushing through large amounts of content, I focus on identifying weaker concepts early, reinforcing them through clear explanations and gradually introducing more challenging application questions. Students receive personalised summary notes, active recall worksheets, exam-style practice papers and detailed feedback after each lesson. I also share revision techniques that helped me perform consistently throughout Junior College, including ways to organise content-heavy subjects, avoid common mistakes and revise efficiently before examinations. Above all, I hope students leave every lesson feeling that Science is no longer something to fear, but a subject they can approach with confidence and curiosity.
