Understand the Principles, Not Just the Formula
The most rewarding part of teaching isn't helping students memorise formulas—it's watching them develop the confidence to solve problems they've never seen before. I'm Aaron, a former geophysics researcher, university educator and holder of a PhD in Geophysics. Throughout my academic career, I've worked in both research and higher education, where I've taught quantitative subjects, supervised university students and contributed to research projects involving mathematical modelling, geophysics and data analysis. My teaching philosophy is built around understanding rather than repetition. Every student processes information differently, so I adapt my explanations to suit the individual. Some students learn best through diagrams and visual intuition, while others benefit from mathematical proofs, worked examples or real-world applications. By identifying why a concept isn't clicking, I can tailor lessons that help students make meaningful and lasting progress.

Academic & Research Background 🎓 PhD in Geophysics 🌍 Former Geophysics Researcher 👨🏫 Former University Lecturer & Tutor 🔬 Research experience in geophysics, quantitative modelling, Earth sciences and computational analysis Teaching Experience I have taught students across Secondary School, Junior College and university, supporting learners with Mathematics, Physics and a wide range of quantitative subjects. At university level, I regularly teach and mentor students taking first- and second-year STEM modules Alongside university teaching, I have extensive experience helping Secondary and Junior College students strengthen their foundations in Mathematics and Physics, prepare for examinations and develop stronger analytical thinking. Research-Informed Teaching My years in research have taught me that solving difficult problems begins with asking the right questions. Rather than simply showing students the solution, I help them identify the key concepts, recognise patterns and develop systematic approaches to unfamiliar questions. Lessons are personalised around each student's goals and may include concept reviews, structured lecture notes, worked examples, tutorial guidance, practice papers, assignment support and examination preparation. I also supervise university coursework, research reports and quantitative projects, providing detailed feedback to help students deepen their understanding beyond the classroom. Whether you're preparing for national examinations, tackling challenging university modules or working on research-related coursework, my goal is to help you develop the confidence and problem-solving skills needed to succeed independently.
